Introduction to Library Research

A bit about finding books at Regis...

Find books by searching the library catalog.  (Find articles by searching the databases.)  Look for the Call Number on the record in the catalog.  This is the "address" for where the book lives in the library and it can be found on the spine of the book.  The books are shelved in order of the Call Number, and the circulating collection is on the 2nd and 3rd floor of the library.  The first floor holds reference books which must be used in the library.

  • Ask at the circulation desk for a barcode sticker to put on your ID.  This will enable you to check out books.
  • Printed copies of journals and magazines are located on the second floor unless it is the current issue.  The current issue is located on the back wall of the first floor.
  • Reserves are held at the circulation desk.
