Poster Presentations - How to Guide

Creating an effective poster presentation takes time and effort.  It is a major project and there are many elements involved.  Allot enough time for each phase of the project -- planning, designing and producing the poster.  Lastly, plan time to develop a short talk to go along with the poster.

Know the requirements for your poster.

• Is there a recommended size?  Posters are typically 3 x 4 ft although your professor or the venue will provide size guidelines.
• Format requirements? Posters are typically brief text with bullets, numbering & headlines, along with graphics that include charts, tables, & images.
• Review all instructions provided by your professor before you begin.
